Kingman Airport was once a large US Army Air Force (later US Air Force) aircraft storage facility. The USAF abandoned Kingman and moved the storage facility to Tucson in the 1950s.

The airport remains an active airport for private, commercial and military use. It is also an aircraft storage facility due to the dry climate. There are currently a number of passenger planes and a few military planes in storage.
